Trailworx on Site

Trailworx were the successful tender for the Uki MTB track. This has been possible thanks to the support of Tweed Shire Council and their successful grant from NSW Sports Recreation of $430,000 for the implementation of the Uki trails.

Work has already begun on site with once trail near completion and a second underway. Work has paused till March on site as other trail projects for Trailworx are finalised and they shall be back to take advantage of the drier winter months to complete.
Trailworx in consultation with council and the club have undertaken some realignment of the climbing trail to keep it more in the shade and flatten out the contours. This has also allowed an extra green trail to be added prior to the summit.
The much requested black trail has been endorsed and shall be predominantly a jump line given its open position and lack of technical natural features to utilise.

Below is an updated trail map - which still could change - typically for the better.

Staging Area Design:

Landscape Designs and Ideas.

Carparking - will 10 be enough? - likely not. With a fresh set of eyes from Councils landscape architect they have a concept where we remove the existing cattle yards and place the pump track on the top level, creating a central hub near the existing shelter.
This will allow much more area for the pump track and the ability to expand car parking in the future as required.
Peter from council, has utilised designs from Duck Creek with the low seating platforms (good for trials practise), Daisy Hills repair stand area, and Derbys cut log bike stands.

What do you think ? What have we missed or could it be improved?

Pump Track:

No real news here, except James newest design in conjunction with Trail Care, Northen Beach Council and Garrigal Gorrillas has recently opened in Sydney's Northern Beaches. We have commissioned James Hall to assist with the design and set out of the pump track for Uki. James has raced EWS and was one of the design team for the Bare Creek trails in Belrose Sydney. James shall come up for a couple of days to help set out the track on site and then its up to us to form and finish. The design we settled on is pretty simple to make the most of the site and ensure the best outcome with a club build.

Skills Days:

Alas with the Christmas Chaos we were not able to secure the areas we needed with council - but we shall continue to work towards bringing skills clinics with the assistance of Recreate Tweed in Murwillumbah and Cabarita in early 2023. The clinics focus on the fundamentals of braking, cornering and body position then building those skills to manuals and bunny hops.

Clinics shall run from 9am to 2pm with lunch supplied.

Clinics will be free for TVMTBR race and lifestyle Aus Cycling members or their children (1 membership = 1child attending). Cost for Non members and general riders shall be $70 for the day.
More dates and details shall follow.
