Construction To Start:

Construction To Start:

5 tenders for the construction of the mountain bike track at Uki were received by Tweed Shire Council. The evaluation process was completed by council with input from the club and the successful company has been notified. Once they finish repair works at another local MTB site they will move to Uki to begin site preparation works. Obviously works will be a bit weather dependant but things are GO! Our mountain bike track is beginning.
So start running round with hands in air about now.

And we need to get organised.

Kyogle Trail Day:

Kyogle MTB Track: Saturday 29th  October. 9.30am

Kyogle shall be hosting the final round of the North Coast Enduro Series on Sunday 13th November so it’s a good time to head out and check some of the trails on offer. Destination Trail has been working hard to bring the trails back to their best and it will be a good opportunity to see some of the challenges the Uki trail will face.  if your keen to head out contact the Kyogle MTB Club through facebook is fastest.
If anyone want to car shuttle I shall be going out with spare seats. Contact me through tweedmtb@gmail.com

Communications:

Ok who wants a lift to Kyogle? Facebook is a bit varied and we have been asked for some options so. We do have a Whatsapp group for the club set up as TVMTBR, drop us a line at tweedmtb@gmail.com and we can send you the invite to stay even more up to date with travel, meetings but alas no funny cat photos.

Pump Track:

We have commissioned James Hall to assist with the design and set out of the pump track for Uki. James has raced EWS and was one of the design team for the Bare Creek trails in Belrose Sydney . James shall come up for a couple of days to help set out the track on site and then its up to us to form and finish. The design we settled on is pretty simple to make the most of the site and ensure the best outcome with a club build.

Skills Days:

With the assistance of Recreate Tweed, the club shall be holding a series of MTB skills clinics in Murwillumbah and Cabarita through November / December and January initially. The clinics focus on the fundamentals of braking, cornering and body position then building those skills to manuals and bunny hops.
Clinics shall run from 9am to 2pm with lunch supplied.

Clinics will be free for TVMTBR race and lifestyle Aus Cycling members or their children (1 membership = 1child attending). Cost for Non members and general riders shall be $70 for the day.
More dates and details shall follow.

Planting & Carbon Use:

Being a old cattle farm, there is a fair bit of exposed land, which opens the opportunity for replanting with TREES!. These will also help with shading and protection for the track and ensure we leave the space better than we found it for the long term.
Its also an opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint for the project and show yet another positive benefit for the broader community. Back of napkin estimates run at about 64 trees per annum to be planted to offset the estimated 6 cars per day visiting the site (per annum average)

Anyone a carbon expert out there???

The Important Stuff:

Thanks for reading this far !

Council shall have some grant money that is able to be allocated to the staging area. For those who have seen the site, it shall scrub up pretty well – but we need some more ideas, come to the AGM to provide your ideas and input.

Annual General Meeting:

We shall have a club information night and AGM on Wednesday 2nd November in Murwillumbah at 7.00pm at a location TBA. Please RSVP to tweedmtb@gmail.com for all the details. We shall be discussing all of the above stuff plus all the bits I glossed over in this email - want to make a difference
